Doesn't seem like as many layoffs on the HSE side this week, relative to January. I'd estimate ~150 including contractors. Maybe the legacy CVE staff were hit harder but that's pure speculation.
Haven't yet received an all clear so likely still in-progress.
A recycled strategy playbook from GE circa 2005-2010? Lately I've seen a couple of bigger companies install the wrong VP/Director level people. The CEO was great, had buy in from everybody, but their appointees ..uh.. "weren't a good fit for a profit-based business".This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There's enough case studies and executive coaching out there that someone with a bit of corporate leadership experience could take on a big role like that and still perform, I think.
Most of the CEO's, in my current/past companies, makes a shit ton of money and literally had 0 contribution to the company.
For example, AIG global CEO's first year salary/package was equivalent to $40 million USD. His job is to help turn a profit for the company, which is ironic considering his income is more than the revenue of the local entities. Put into perspective, his salary is subsidized by multiple local/country entities. Where most entities are loss making or barely profitable after the gross operating cost which includes the CEO's salary.
While his performance is lack luster, his salary was almost 10x that of the global CEO of AXA. Note that AXA at the same period had solid improvements in top and bottom line. AIG's CEO was challenged with market comparison on why his salary exceeds his peers. His response : "I am just making a living".
Therefore, Id say CEO's capabilities varies and so do their perks.

the only relevant question is if the board could hire a better CEO than him for $40MM. Everything else is just noise. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The Disney Store in Crossiron is closing by the end of the week due to them wanting to focus more on their online presence (and having 3 stores in Calgary always seemed a bit much). My wife was working there for the perks more than anything; it's going to suck shelling out for park tickets again haha.
