They scratch garage floors if you turn your wheels while parking, and they can be noisy as fuck depending on your vehicle. They're overkill 99.999% of the time, but when realize you really could have used them it's likely because you just hit the car in front of you while on a sheet of ice (thanks to Calgary's wonderful thaw/freeze cycle). Not that I've done that...
