From talking to a few people that have recently gone though this, month per year is still out there, especially if you're older (harder to get another job)
I was laid off and haven't found SIMILAR work yet
I was laid off and found a new job in the same industry
I was laid off and found a new job/career in a different industry
I'm still plugging along with the same company I've always been with
I quit my job and went elsewhere
We're all fucked

"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."

How long have these threads been going on? Jesus this is terrible.
Well this is part 8, and it's more than 2 years old, and honestly I've been considering starting part 9 as a fresh 2021 layoffs thread. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My thoughts on energy employment are well documented in several threads. It's low, and going lower.

The idea that people in O&G are universally grossly overpaid, now that is dated thinking. At least amongst people who add any value.

Has morale every been good at husky since like 2010? I think most people stayed there for their juicy bonuses. I've heard of 100-150% salary bonus for some management, like that's bananas. That's a perk likely going away at Cenovus.

I was at a Flames game a couple years ago in a booth/box thing and there were a bunch of Husky employees there, as well. It was really really weird. I don't know what part of the biz they worked in, but I've never seen anything quite like it. They drank free liquor like the world was ending in 24hr. Puked in the bathroom. Broke glasses. The one girl that was maybe a 6 was taking active steps to get fucked by a (co-worker) guy that was a 3. They literally stayed so fucking long after the game ended (drinking free liquor) that security came and finally asked everyone to leave. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. So I'm sure it was a "results not typical" scenario and I'm sure it's not a solid indicator of company morale (or at least I'd hope not) but it was a hell of a show.
I've been less embarrassed at a hockey came with a bunch of drunk welders! LoL!

Ha! No. I was there with the hostess, so she was stuck there until they were done and even then, they expected to get to go to the casino and some bar for an endless night of free liquor, because, the world was clearly ending in about 18hr.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Once the host could leave them, we were able to leave and I think we were sharing a cab or something because I felt greasy about taking a taxi chit for myself. Something like that. Something was pinning me to the hostess on that night and I can't recall exactly why.
And it's not like I was sipping tea with my monocle, all evening. I took on a good belly full of free beer and had a perfectly nice time. I just didn't try to die of alcohol poisoning and fuck a fat chick from Accounts Payable. It's a free game with whatever appetizers and a few free drinks in the box. There was/is no need to turn it into a Motley Crue video that actually looks more like a Marilyn Manson video.
No that just sounds like typical Alberta ha

Curb the big bonuses and maybe they're around today. I hear all this and then read "Company now for sale, non core assets up for sale, anyone, please, buy something, my office chair... We need money to stay alive".This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
