The stand allows you to have a unique setup for each stand. Not sure if the software can do much without that.

Yeah, I should have been more specific I suppose. I won't utilize it to it's potential, which is why I don't see that kinda value in it. For someone who does actually use the functionality it's capable of, it becomes more reasonably priced.
The only imperfection I have noticed so far is when you double tap the display to see the time or notifications (I do not use ambient/always on display), it comes on at full brightness and then very quickly dims to whatever brightness level is set. Seems like a minor bug. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I am not using the stand so I can't comment on those.
I haven't used Google Assistant much but so far so good on that front - I mostly use it for reminders and alarms and it has been working as expected in that respect.

If anyone wants a Pixel stand or another Pixel stand, you can have mine for $80. Brand new in box, still in factory plastic wrap. I just don't think I'll use it to be honest.
That sounds like a normal wireless stand with an RFID tag built into it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

It's definitely nothing fancy but I expect Google will open it up as part of the Made For Google program so hopefully we'll see cheaper wireless chargers with this functionality. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Everything it does can be done already with apps, but it is nice to have out of the box.

As I understand it, googls 10w charging is propriety for the stand as well. Not sure. But fast charging wireless is nice.
Correct - it seems to drop to 5w for other devices which isn’t abnormal, but not ideal if you’re used to 10w on the pixel. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Only Pixel Stand and Belkin's upcoming charger support 10w so far. Only Made for Google certified wireless chargers will support 10W wireless charging. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

add all of that up, and it's worth the $$ for me.
Really, overnight charging, 5w is fine. Pixel 3 XL can be top up from empty in 4 hours @ 5w.
Finally showed up. Very nice and fast. Extra screen realestate is a big bonus from the P2. New cloth case does seem alot slimmer on the screen side. Will probably get a much sturdier case for when I am in the field. Seemingly no screen issues for me.
Don't really like the stand though. Doesn't seem to work that well. Screen will wake, stop charging, start charging etc. Might be to do with the small metal piece I have for my magnet car mount but I will test later. Was showing charging rapidly, 1hr 20 remaining, plugged into cable and it was 20 remaining.

Does anyone have their credit yet? Wondering if I should start bugging them about it since I haven't gotten it.
Google says you get it 6-8 weeks after the promotion period ends (Oct 31) and we will receive email notification that it has been added, so I think there is a ways to go yet before we can reasonably start to harass them. They have until January 1 based on the fine print. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Looks like the official Night Sight camera update is rolling out. Looking forward to trying it out.
Indeed. I looked more into how it works and from what I gather it takes up to 15 photos and stacks them. If it's handheld, the maximum shutter duration is 1/3sec and if it's on a tripod, maximum duration is 1 second. Maximum effect duration of 6 seconds. So it is a lot more than a simple long exposure. It can correct for minor movements but it can't perform miracles if the subject is moving obviously. White balance is corrected by machine learning. The whole process is extremely dynamic and depends on dozens of factors so it doesn't just apply the same formula to every image. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It works best when it is actually way too dark for a normal photo, rather than just to make a low light photo slightly brighter. The app will suggest times that night sight is recommended when you go to take pictures as well.
Here is more information on the color correction algorithms if anyone is interested:

Still no camera update for me
I did however change all my animations/transitions to 0.5X and I think that is the sweet spot. The phone is more than powerful enough to run them that fast and it makes everything feel even snappier if that is possible. I ran my Pixel 2XL like that too and really liked it.
