Cars of then had steel we have crumple zones and advanced air bags, none the less I thought the bell air would of done a little better then that.Originally posted by corsvette

Some of those 70's land yachts might have given the new car a run for its money. The interior occupants had so much leather, vinyl and carpet inside that they wouldve hardly noticed a crash.
Really speaks to the safety of today's vehicles. What was amazing is how much the interior of the Bel Air deformed compared to the new Malibu.
Will fuck off, again.
That thick metal was completely compromised, did you see all the rust dust shoot out? I think a brand new one would have fared better than that. The frame was probably completely shot too.Originally posted by corsvette

Not only that look at the hood how it was flaping around like fuking tin foil and about the interior im sure there are alot of loose bolts and screws. These kinda videos that make people buy new cars, make people believe that new plastic cars are better then older heavy metal cars and people believe it and some of u have already showen it here the world is run on lies and this is one lie that shows and sticks outOriginally posted by Tik-Tok

Here's some GM crash tests from the 60's, you sure as shit don't see the cars shattering to pieces in these vids. (Though the occupants didn't look like they were having a good time )

Gotta disagree with some of last few posters as I've seen a few head-ons between older and newer cars and the people in the newer cars always came out better.

Seat belts were a 60's thing if I remember correctly although almost no one used them back then. Remember the first shoulder belts too - ya had to store them away by folding them into clips on the ceiling of the car. Also remember the gas tank being behind the seat in my Dad's 67 Chevy half ton - yeah, there was that layer of cardboard paper between the tank and the back of the seat, not sure what that was there for though.
Anyhow, we've come a long ways with respect to safety in vehicles and I'd rather be in my 2008 Chevy driving down the road than in my 80 Chevy - the multiple airbags alone make it a much more survivable space in an accident.

i agree with tiktok...the chevy that they used in the first video is the biggest piece of shit! you should not see puffs of rust shooting out of the car.
i like both years but most the new years cars look alike and its kinda annoying any way an airbag can snap ur neck as well and too much of them can just bounce u like a basketball lolOriginally posted by speedog

Probably came out of the same hole that that Chrysler did in that contest in the States.
