Did you even read the article? here is the link.
The Max isnt even flying at this time. That's such a misleading title.
Yeah, I don't think it was misleading. I understood that they were talking about WHEN the aircraft are back in service. There's clearly some people who will avoid it, as mentioned earlier in this thread, and RyanAir is out in front of that with a clear policy for that situation.

I suspect all airlines will have that same situation, as you can't have people cancelling last minute without fees, or it destroys the business model. Just interesting RyanAir felt the need to get this policy out in the public so early.

The CEO was probably just asked the question by a reporter. It's not like they had a press conference to announce this.

Why not, at least they are super up front about it, not to mention they probably fly the most Max in EU out of everyone. I'd say that it's good business practice so people that dont want to fly on the MAX wont book with them ?!

Where can I claim it? Does the coupon have expiry date of 1999?

I just booked a flight on WestJet and it says my plane is a 737 MAX. Same same?

same same. the booking system doesn't actually know what plane you will be flying on. Not in this case.

Which is weird because generally AC’a does. I generally try and book a widebody when I can.

I think that's usually true, but the 737 Max fiasco has really fucked the future schedule, so they don't even try to get the right aircraft anymore. Or that's my guess anyways.

Air Canada removed the MAX from scheduling until Feb 14 so their aircraft types should at least be accurate until then. Only release I found for WestJet had them scrubbing it from their schedules until Jan 5.

WestJet removed the max in the schedule up until Feb 4th.

@CompletelyNumb you will likely get reaccomodated to another aircraft when the schedule is republished. I would guess that will happen in the next week or so.

I wasn't too worried, but I did take the opportunity to show my wife and scare her.

So are you guys legitimately afraid of flying on this plane?

I would have flown on one a week after the accident. Pilots are now hyperaware of the system, and to kill the electric stab completely if it started acting weird.
