    Default NW Calgary flooding.

Apparently a pretty good water main break. Drove past that area in Montgomery a half hour before it happened and was fine.
No water or low flow reports in Bowness all the way to Eau Claire.

@jabjab what sort of diy job did you do and Not called before digging?

I would vote for Joseph Stalin if he arose from the dead and ran for our government on a platform of "we will only issue eMeRgEnCy aLeRtS when there is a literal, emergency and here are the criteria that must be met prior to issuing these alerts."

Couldn't the city just isolate the the water main break with valves or something? Why would people in Seton need to stop showering if there is a water main break in Bowness? That doesn't make sense to me.

Calgary has 2 water treatment plants, this is affecting the main line that the north one supplies so likely has to be shutdown for repairs. So the glenmore water treatment plant now needs to supply the whole city I believe.

Too much rain meant they couldn't call a "cLiMaTe EmErGeNcY" drought to limit water usage this summer, so Female Nenshi had to find some other way to put us into drought and water restrictions

Related-ish, but the reservoirs have been dumping water for flood prevention all spring. So even in the face drought warnings for months, we've been deliberately NOT saving any water for future use.

It's a fuck-show, you'll be able to walk across the river by Heritage Day.

Everyone should rush to the car washes before they get shut down, and then to the grocery store to buy up all the bottled water with boil advisories coming into effect.
