Finding it hard to believe this hasn't come up in here.

I've been following this one since it keeps popping up in my Google News feed.
Essentially Trudeau decided that it's a good idea to award a sole-source contract to handle $900,000,000 in funds (Canada Student Service Grant Program) to the WE Charity, stating they were the only ones able to handle this big of a task. At this point we're finding out that there is a conflict of interest at so many levels between this government, the Trudeaus, Morneaum, and others, that it's hard to keep track.
Listened to a few interviews on the radio the other day and basically the "punishment" for such a conflict was basically being pointed at and told "yup, you did it". At this point, due to the amount of money that WE has paid to the Trudeau family - while simultaneously being contract by the feds for "services", it's looking like the consequences might add up to something more than a simple public shaming.
All in all, a bit of drama to watch unfold...and yet I'm 100% certain the sky would have fallen if the conservatives would have done the same thing. Let alone, the same thing so many times over.
I think my biggest question here is - since when do volunteers get paid?
