Honestly, I’d love a number pad like that in my car. I don’t use voice dial, and it’s a pita to use most other input methods. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think this is the pinnacle of interior design! Ha...it doesn’t get much cheaper than domestic 80s interiors!

Hahaha...definitely more than the original price of the car but not the current value of the car, that’s for sure! Getting tired of the blue light though, it may be time to go to a Holley dash. On the plus side, the blue on the dash matches the blue LED lights on all of the switches. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Mercedes probably has some of the best looking interiors, but they aren't necessarily put together that well - I've always noticed the panels have a surprising amount of give to them, creaking when you press them, and I've seen it come up in professional reviews as well. Even on the AMG GT4. I know not everyone goes around pushing on door panels and dash panels, but other cars pass the the same test so it makes me wonder what's different.
The Trackhawk interior isn't terrible but IMO it would be better if they didn't have a climate control area and speedometer area that looks like it came from a Dodge Neon. If they changed those out I think it would make a huge difference.
One thing I hate universally in interiors is piano black. Even cars known for their interiors like the A8 have it and it looks terrible IMO. It scratches super easy, gathers fingerprints, and looks cheap outside of photos. Thankfully you can usually option in some aluminum, CF, wood, etc.
.... IS has the worst interior design of all time.... all those buttons from the 90s... grossThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I disagree. They were pretty cool in the 90s.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Cool thread.
Since this is sort of the official interior thread, and we’re stuck on domestic is lagging to its counter parts - can we discuss 2021 F150 interior?
It’s looking really good. Like it skipped a generation and it’s now smearing poop on RAM. KR, platinum and limited are very nice. The seats are gorgeous.
Even an XLT looks great in pics now. Let’s see real life though.
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age."
-H.P. Lovecraft
F150 is a good yardstick, since it's a $25k truck that most people spend $65k or more on.
Kinda like the Trackhawk.....

It’s a massive pain in the ass without the number pad buttons especially when the cops call me to tell me I have a warrant for my arrest and need to press 1 to speak to an operator. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Function over form back in the day. Those buttons never changed in 20 years of MB interior design, just relocated.

I'd always be willing to look in person and give Ford an honest chance. But one thing about Ford is you can never trust pictures. Even on any rare occasion where they could make an interior look good in pictures, you go sit in it in real life and it's the same old song and dance. The immediate thought that comes to mind is "Wow! This is the cheapest feeling piece of shit I've ever set foot in". I used to always wonder why they struggled so hard to figure out button placements and material feel. But even though Ford continues to produce absolute garbage, they are very smart. They realize the average consumer does not care about the things car guys care about. So they don't waste engineering money on those areas. Can't really fault them, they aren't trying to make great cars, they're trying to make profitable cars. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Pickup truck interiors are not like other segments. People want functional and familiar. I find if anyone likes the Ram interior, they'll hate the Ford, and vice-versa. I actually think GMC makes the nicest interior, but I didn't even consider buying one, but I'm not a car guy anyway.

Does a Golf R have an interior of a $50k car or is it basically the same as a $20k base model Golf but with leather?
I suppose it's somewhat subjective but IMHO it's a dressed up economy car interior, same as all the other $40-50K options based on much cheaper cars like the CTR, Veloster N, Focus ST/RS, every Mustang variant, WRX/STi, etc. Certainly not bad, but it's not a luxury car interior. They don't change the 'bones' of the interior, but they dress it up.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Imo a base Golf interior is above average for that type of car.
I was impressed by Stinger's interior picture until I get into interior in person and touch the buttons and dials. I was disappointed.
But they seem to improved in the G70.
