350Z is in Shak's "budget" if you can find one that isn't rice^3.

Some more good suggestions in here.
Whatever you do, don't get FWD.
Sounds like Boxster, Z4, Miata, 350z, old 3-series with 400k km on it are your best options.
Don't get me wrong, I love an E30, but $15k will only get you a ratbagged one these days, won't it?
Yea I don't wanna do anything with over 150K km's just for the sake of not having to deal with repairs and shit.
I am not too concerned about fwd, rwd aspect personally. Has to be a stick shift and in a reasonable condition (no rust/damage etc.). Also looking at 350Z, as that brings me back being my first car back in the day. Crazy though I remember selling my 2003 with about 80K km's for 16K back in 2012 and I am seeing 2003's still around that price point right now.
Are these any good? Seeing some of them and Impreza around the ballpark.

350Z's aren't bad.
STIs are decent to drive, but the engines all blow up at some point. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I suspect the one you linked has already blown up.
loving c5/6 Z06's lately. If I was in the market I would be all over one of these

Lol...those are slightly more than 15K but if they weren't I'd be all over them too.
I have to think that with the brand new, higher end vehicles Shak has become accustomed to driving that he's not going to enjoy something ~15-20yo with radically lower acceleration and zero tech.
It might be worth considering something super old, but modified and restored like a VW Corrado. I'm thinking something older because it will give you that butt-dyno feeling of peppy and fast when it's just not.
Just get a little GTI chip it and go fast lol

Shit, there's only 49 users here, I doubt we'll even break 100
Get a base model manual golf and use really old hard all-season tires. You'll slide around and have a blast.

Previous C5Z owner, paid a lot less for mine with less km than that. Was a piece of shit, even less reliable than the Subarus I’ve owned. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Here's a fun one.

interesting, what issues did you have with it? My dad has a 99 vette (just a base) and its been bulletproof for him in the 15+ years he's owned itThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ya I thought about that. But I will still have my M3 so I am just thinking something old-er and stick shift that I can bag on without a care in the world would be fun. All started when I started itching for another motorcycle after selling my Ducati this past winter. But then I know my wife will be really uncomfortable with that and I don't want to put her in that spot so then the focus shifted. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I haven't fully made up my mind if it's 'worth it' cause with the other vehicles I have, if it's something that I don't absolutely love, it won't get much use but I am keeping my options open and looking around to see if something that speaks to me pops up.

Diff failure on the highway (semi common), rear wheel bearing failure (very common) on both sides twice, broken OEM seat back latches (super common). Cooling system was woefully undercooled, even after two oil cooler setups and a double capacity rad it was just barely holding it together on track, still was seeing 110°C water and 130-140°C oil temps. Diff and trans temps were reaching 130°C on track in 15 mins sessions, powersteering would overheat at auto x and blow all the fluid out because the OEM pulley was the wrong size for tons of heavy steering inputs at high engine RPM. With aftermarket brake ducts I would get 2 days out of a set of track pads at Castrol, which is unbelievably poor wear. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What about a Subaru BRZ or Scion FRS? There's even one with red wheels in Edmonton for $16K.
It's not in your budget, but I've had a bunch of sportbikes over the years, and an S2k (AP1 that revs to 9k) is the closest thing I've driven to mimic the bike experience. Obviously a super7 or some wild open wheel thing would do it better, but that's not a realistic solution haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The nice thing about an s2k is budget is meaningless since you will always sell it for the same, if not more than you paid.
Anything in the sub $15k range goes straight to zero when you break it
