That is the worst trade ever. WTMF haha. Neal's value sucks. Lucic's is beyond suck.

Saw on IG that is a done deal. Edmonton to cover some of the salary allegedly.
What in the absolute fuck.
I have a feeling that this isn't it. It can't be. There must be more to this. I am wondering if Edmonton will retain some salary, then Calgary will also retain some of Lucic's salary which might make him more tradeable. This way, Calgary will be rid of Neal's contract without having to buy him out. Maybe?
This is fucked. James Neal has a higher ceiling for sure.
Better check Lucic for syphilis...just to be safe.

Edmonton is cover some of Lucic's salary, not sure how much yet. Calgary also gets a conditional pick (not sure on details yet)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Well trading NEal to Edmonton does raise the average IQ of both organizations.
Ken Holland is already well into fleecing the Flames. Lucic is the definition of a bum.

After the initial reaction and shock subsided, I'm okay with the trade. If the rumor of a conditional pick coming back (hopefully a high rounder) and Oilers retaining salary, it can actually help the Flames. Both players are slow and saddled with horrible contracts, but in hindsight, both players will fill a need with their new team.
James Neal was brought in to score goals and generate offense, he didn't, and Flames still finished top of the conference. Even if he does bounce back with 20+ goals for the Oilers next year, it doesn't really affect how the Flames do. With Lucic, he won't be expected to generate offense as he will be designated in the bottom 6 where he could play a role and fill a need with his size. Add to the fact that Lucic's cap hit will be almost a million less than Neal's.
Edmonton is retaining 12.5% of Lucic contract
Sig nuked by mod.
even so how the hell can we afford lucic?
because we don't have Neal's contract

I guess that makes sense. But I still don't like it.

I would’ve like this trade better if it included Russell as part of the trade, I guess that didn’t pan out and we get a draft pick instead.
Neal couldn't make the second line in Calgary and Edmonton already talking about him being in the first line
“Straight roads are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers.”
Well, it's really partly cause of our depth. He joined the teaming thinking/hoping he'd be playing with Johnny and Mony, but when Lindholm showed instant chemistry with them why break that up? Neal's always been a sniper. I think part of the reason why he never had success here is he didn't have that set up guy Johnny would have been. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Edmonton's problem is they have no depth so of course he'd be a good candidate for that top line. Who else has been on there at one time or another? Chiasson, Lucic, Kassian, etc? Fuck, I'm pretty sure I could crack the top line.
Lucic couldn’t play in Edmonton’s bottom 6. Sooo, press box? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
