It took 7 months to get the first ~75% done. It will take 7 * 4 = 28 months for the rest to shake out. But efficacy is materially reduced after 8 months. So now we have about 6% of the population getting vulnerable again every two weeks.

I think we're essentially aligned, then.
My gut says the transmission rate has been reduced by the "lots" end of things because I think most/all of us are nodes that connect to unvaccinated people and if we were all still carrying Coronavirus at similar rates to several months ago, I think CoVid would be fist-fucking the unvaccinated at rates like a square wave. Their numbers of CoVid don't seem to support that. The rates that the unvaccinated are getting CoVid seem manageable, to me. It's still a quagmire, but it's not a true crisis like human-caused climate change.

Honestly it is impossible to say what transmission rate is now. With so many vaccinated people, there is going to be far more asymptomatic cases now that don't get captured, because they don't have any reason to be tested. The unvaccinated are all in lower risk categories for the most part, as it's younger people that have low vaccination rates. So the hospital rates(which are still low despite what the fear porn police are saying) aren't a great metric of transmission either.

We knew from the get go just based on human behavior trends that surpassing 70% vaccination would be tough. At this point the only choice needs to be to let this run through the unvaxxed crowd and get it over with.
