Tire width restriction? Or just stock sizing?

It's in the rulebook:Originally posted by Sugarphreak
If it fits on the rim and within the wheel well without modification (like fender rolling) it is allowed
Is this one a club exception? I don't recall seeing any mention of this in the SCCA rules, but maybe I overlooked it.
I was under the impression you can only use diameters that are offered as factory options for the car
13.4 WHEELS
Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following: 2015 SCCA® NAtioNAl Solo® RuleS — 73
13. Street
A. It is the same width as standard and as installed it does not have an
offset more than ±¼” (±6.35mm) from a standard wheel for the car.
The resultant change in track dimensions is allowed.
B. Wheel (rim) diameter may be increased or decreased 1” from the
standard part.
+ - 1" I thought was okOriginally posted by Sugarphreak

So, if car comes with 15" stock and 16" optional, you can go to 17" provided you have same width and offset as the stock 15 or optional 16.
Going with a 140 wear rating will have you wear out the tires just driving to Ft McLeod from Calgary. haha.
What will the wear rating be for 2015?

There have been a number of complaints about that Vette, but as of now we have not taken any action. This does not mean that we are going to accept another car that is that loud, but rather we are working on the best way of dealing with the current issue without causing undue hardship to the owner.Originally posted by KRyn
I am not going to name any names, but my buddy is running headers plus straight pipe exhaust on his Corvette and hasn't had any issues this year thus far. Even at Castrol race way no one complained, I wouldn't worry about it.
The nice thing is that most manufacturers are coming out with "new" compounds that are as sticky as their 140 treadwear tires but somehow are 200 now...got to love sketchy designations and/or testing!Originally posted by Sugarphreak
That is gay... I love my 140w tires

With the residence so close I think we should be concerned with noise at Fort MacLeod. It sucks but it sucks even more that we don't have a Calgary Venue because of noise.

No standardized tire testing means I could go out and make practically an R Comp if I wanted and market it as 200UTG rating :P
I believe the rules state 96dB @ 20ft to the side at a section of the course where the car is at Wide Open Throttle. Stuart please correct me if I'm wrong.Originally posted by BavarianBeast
1 question..
I want to come and plan on either bringing my E92 S/C M3 or my B5 S4..
The one thing I am worried about is my M3 being too loud.. In the self-declatation form it states that sound levels must be within limits of the event, how loud are these limits?
Thanks.
The car does have headers but it's certainly not straight piped (factory axle back active exhaust). With the active exhaust valves in the open position (which automatically open and cannot be kept shut past 3600RPM) the exhaust takes a "shortened" path through the mufflers but it is still muffled to some extent.Originally posted by KRyn

As for Castrol I was far from the loudest car then considering the road course is right next to the drag strip and there was a top fuel car there on July 27th
Still trying to figure out what I could do to quiet it down a bit without having to weld in resonators or add four downward facing tips. I don't know if I'm much louder or even louder at all than the red Corvette though. I'm really curious to see if I'm past the 96dB measurement though.Originally posted by Stuart

And if you sold it in enough quantities and made it available to other competitors it would be legal lolOriginally posted by Twin_Cam_Turbo

When your bypass kicks in (out?), your car is much louder than Jay's Corvette, at least to the ears. No idea what a db meter shows.Originally posted by 94boosted

I guess I've never heard my own car from outside, I think I'm going to have to get someone to take it for a run while I watch from the sidelines.Originally posted by Murray Peterson

I'm going to see if there is anything I can do to Jerry-Rig those valves to stay closed at all times.
Are you looking for a volunteer? J/K, I honestly wouldn't know what to do driving a car that actually had torqueOriginally posted by 94boosted

The volume hits when the exhaust is pointing towards the listener. Sounds close to a straigt pipe at that point.Originally posted by 94boosted

Is there a fuse you can pull in the circuit?

If it were that simple I would have done it a long time ago, truth is the valves fail open and rely on engine vacuum to keep them closed.Originally posted by Murray Peterson

Maybe... we'll see... Dont think the M3 will be too competitive... the other car on the other hand...Originally posted by 94boosted
