Alright, since we are almost at the registration cap I've decided to change my plans. I'm not going to waste a spot on myself when I have to leave halfway through anyway.

Instead, I'm going to show up with my camera and take pics. I always wish I had some action shots of myself, assuming others would too. I'm no pro, but have a decent camera, a long lens, and know what most of the buttons do. :P

Also gonna bring my gopro and external mic setup. The mic is awesome because when you put it on the back of the car there's zero wind noise, purely exhaust and tire noise.

    Example:

Anyone wants to borrow it for a run let me know. I'm probably gonna want a ridealong though.

I bought a membership based on that and then they opened it up

Originally registration was only open to SASC members and members of other WCMA affiliated clubs, however people weren't signing up quite as quickly as we would have liked and we were beginning to worry we would take a loss renting this venue (it's not cheap). So the decision was made to open it to the public. Apologies for the troubles this caused.

As a bonus though, you do get $10 off all SASC and CSCC events as a member

I wouldn't mind borrowing the mic!

Note that registration on-site closes at 9 am sharp. They need course walks too!

First thing you should do on arrival is sign the general waiver and get checked in/on-site registration. This is necessary for everyone so we know you are in the timing/scoring computer etc.

Well that was a blast. Still shaking off the cobwebs, almost spun once, and 2s slower than the other gla45.

Thanks again reijo for securing a Calgary venue! Going to try to make it out to more of these!

Really great first time experience for me! Choked I had to miss the second set of runs. I'll have to come out more often as there are some very cool people to hang out with and I have lots of time to shave off my laps.

That was fun! Good variety of cars. A crazily built MR2 with comically wide wheels and no fender flares, Benyl in his awesome wagon, and then some NASCAR looking Camaro. If only I didn't fail so hard in the afternoon. Still did decent though.

Is there any feedback from the organizers? Will this be an ongoing event now?

    That was fun day!

I heard of one car peeling out on the main road, probably after spectating. Heard it had a big GT wing... I recall seeing a 240sx? pull in earlier with solid aluminum GT wing risers. Assuming it was you?!

It was a fun day but the decibel meter was for sure out of calibration. Seemed super strange to me they would only have 1 meter and then force people to either leave or drive at 4000 RPM based on 1 gun that is for sure not working right...

If they are going to be that strict, get at least a second gun to compare results. Decibel meter was only at like 30ft away instead of 50ft too.

Obviously, I'm not against it and also want to ensure we keep this venue no matter what but that gun was just not right.
