Bumpity bump bump bump
I was just thinking about this the other day. The funny this is, I was pro-separation until I started looking back and seeing just how many conservatives I know have been promoting coronavirus, vaccine, and pandemic misinformation. Then considering these convoys, I realized that I don't want to be locked in or identified with people like that. I would now rather move from Alberta than separate.
I don't know how it's possible, but I now feel more politically alienated than I ever did before. Like I'm more distant from any of the apparent options. Not sure if that's just going to mean I stop paying attention to politics, or what.

You're locked in with those people now already. The question is do you want to also be locked in by the other parts of Canada and their morons? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Morons don't cancel each other out. They are additive.

You always were alienated and disenfranchised. You're just realizing it more clearly now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
What's better, just have every province fend for themselves or make BC-Manitoba the new world?
I need to find a comfortable delusion.

I'd consider something like Manitoba, Sask, and Alberta. If interior/Northern BC wants to split off and can sort that out legally they would be welcome. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Exactly this. I have always voted conservative, but now there is not a single party that I align with enough that I would even consider supporting them. I have become completely cynical about politics and am giving up for the foreseeable future. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Quite right, but at least right now I do have freedom to cross borders. Given that I really don't care about which party is in charge anymore, I guess I just have see if one group of morons is going to be slightly better than the rest. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Don't feel bad. Its a very small, but very loud minority. Facebook and social media amplify the tiny group. I was seeing at least 20 "pro convoy" ads on facebook per night last couple weeks. There is massive foreign funding of this separation movement. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There are millions of hardworking, rational minded people in this province. The "problem" is, these nice people are quiet, and the deplorables are VERY loud.

I agree with this. Any time you get a group opposing the "norm", they have to speak loudly to gain any traction. The more the public disagrees, the louder they need to speak to get noticed. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Unfortunately, once one is figuratively screaming their head off, they can easily be viewed as extremist and not listened to by all but the staunchest followers. Unfortunately, those who launch such campaigns are usually in the wrong, so that works out well for the rest of us.
I’ll have to point you to a map some time. Contrary to popular belief the lower mainland is not the only part of BC connected to the coast. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think you underestimate the amount of economically unviable coastline in BC for a major port. Bella Coola sure isn't going to work. Washington would be the only real choice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Well, you're going to "need to" be like China to get something like that done. When you can't drive from Vancouver to Gibsons and the residents in Bella Coola literally built their own fucking road, it's not going to be easy based on modern working standards. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member.
